What is RSS?

It is a file, in XML or RDF format, which is used to distibute similar news and content, originating from several sources. RSS files create simple publication channels, which can be red by special-purpose programs (so-called newsreaders). When you encounter an XML or RSS icon in a web page, it means you can read news items from this page without having to visit it. The main advantage is that you will only get updates when the content of the page actually changes.
