How the scholarships are awarded: selection criteria
1. Competitive competition:
The scholarships are awarded in order of academic merit, i.e. on the basis of the average marks of the applicants.
If the demand for scholarships exceeds the available budget:
• The applications will be ranked in order from highest to lowest average mark.
• The scholarships will be awarded until the budget is exhausted.
• Students with an average mark lower than that of the last student receiving a scholarship will be excluded.
• In the event of a tie, priority will be given to the gender under-represented in the qualification.
2. Calculation of the average mark:
• Baccalaureate: The university entrance mark is used, not including the specific phase.
• Other cases:
o Second year or later: The average mark of the previous year is used, including the training complements.
o First year with previous university studies: The weighted average mark of the subjects taken is used.
2. Calculation of the weighted average mark:
• A score is assigned to each rating:
o Distinction = 10 points
o Merit = 9 points
o Notable = 7.5 points
o Pass = 5.5 points
o Fail = 2.5 points
o Not submitted = 2.5 points
• The score for each subject is multiplied by the number of credits it comprises.
• The points for all the subjects are added together and divided by the total number of credits taken.
4. Exceptions:
• Recognised, validated, adapted and transferred subjects are not taken into account when calculating the average mark.
• The average marks for technical or engineering and architectural studies are multiplied by a factor of 1.17.
